M is for Marathon

Marathon runners seem to always amaze me with
their agility to be able to run that distance.

1894  Marathon Greece a runner ran
the scene of a victory over the Persians in 490 BC; the modern
race is based on the tradition that a messenger ran from Marathon
to Athens (22 miles) with the news.
however, this was not a flat land there where hills and uneven terrain

Phidippides is the person who is responsible for our marathon
he not only ran the 26.5 miles to pronounce the victory
but prior ran 147 miles from Sparta to Athens to ask for help
with the Greecian people fighting in Marathon.

  1. About 8 miles is the longest race I ever run, when my body could do that sort of thing, a long time ago. You know, if I could, I'd like to try a marathon.
