Thankful Thursday





















Thankful Thursday is here again and no better place to be

we all have so much to be thankful for, the simple things we take for
granted
able to breath fresh air
the beautiful rain over the last couple days
the cool temps 70's for July
Mom and dad are doing better
Baby may be here before next Thur (gonna be a great aunt again  Dakota Wayne)
this will be #4  and the first one will be 4 on the 17th :)  I am so proud
of both my nieces and nephew they have made me proud aunt 1st and a very proud great aunt.
My bff son found Christ and was baptized *while in basic training*

my list is so long but cant type everything down, typing is 1 thing that kills
the shoulder :(

Prayer request here :
My shoulder surgery has been delayed once again, needing more test
they found a heart murmur :(
Friends needed, unspoken family request God Knows, she has a full
plate (needs a break) (teri beri)
Friend in CA, her husband has cancer of the mouth and throat Lynelle and Gordon
another friend in CA (cat) she is an alcoholic, living in her car (pray she is
at least safe from the heat  I haven't heard from her since her bday 7-7
buddy the boxer, has had 2 seizures since July 4th please pray they
do not find him to have a tumor.
Pepper the lassa has a mass (like a lypoma on her shoulder non cancerous) she tore it away from the skin and will not let mom doctor it :( buddy has been licking it)  
Gilligan's daughter has been sick

Good evening from the Island
With temps in the high 70s and rain (unheard of for JULY) we actually
sat the record low hi for todays date which was 79

Today's questions:

  1. Do you ever watch old TV shows or movies from your childhood or youth?
  2. Have you ever adopted a rescued animal?
  3. Are you good at keeping track of paperwork and records?
  4. What would you like the Magic Wendell Fairy to poof with his wand, and turn into a treat for you? Any snack or sweet you would like. It doesn't have to do with carrots, or HE'D eat it!
  5. Tell me something interesting- please.
My answers:
  1. Yes Giligans Island, the Lone Ranger, 6 million dollar man and the bionic woman, I love lucy, happy days, laverne and shirley and we can't forget opie, aunt bee, barny fife and andy...oh yea and the waltons.  I watch them every time I see them on tv
  2. Yes. Caz my kitty (who is now over rainbow bridge) was from the shelter, and Buddy the boxer adopted last Nov they are great companions who need love from mommy and daddy :)
  3. YES, I can find receipts from yes ago where I bought something to drink at sonic
  4. German Chocolate cake with homemade icing please, and carrot cake for wendell
  5. Idiots in Tulsa, do not know how to drive when the sun is out much less when it is raining...geezers I never seen the like of people that wanted to be up in the bed of my truck :(  I just wish I had a button so that I could lower the tailgate and let them right on in.   Back off people...the closer you drive the slower I drive

I picked it up and low and
behold it is the year I was born.

once back into the truck,
I find in change given back,
85 quarter, the year I graduated

why I am not blogging a lot





does life really have a way of making you say WOW!!













This song, has new meaning after the last couple of weeks.
first of all my shoulder surgery has been post-phoned due
to abnormality on EKG WHAT??  I have to see cardio
for surgery clearance before surgery...ME:  WHY cant
we just do the surgery and let me be out of this HORRIBLE
PAIN...Now, I can't see cardiologist until July 21 and Surgery
is scheduled for July 31.
Dad went to the ER on July 11 for swelling of the legs *He had gained
4 lbs over night* I get to the ER to find dad had swelling 6-7"
above the knee..OH dear Lord!! admitted to hospital,  bring mom home
as she is still not getting around very well after breaking hip :(
Sat when I get up there he had lost 400 ML of fluids, Sun was 4100 ml
by time he came home MONDAY he had lost over a gallon of fluids
yayy its coming off ankles still swollen but they say with rest it will come off

Today, Tuesday, dad had cardio appointment,  now keep in mind dad is a
a diabetic, I was in no way shape or form prepared for what I was about to
hear, I think I am still in shock
Dad, goes to get blood work every 3-6 months and has always been told he is
doing great and too keep up the great work....
NOW ARE YOU READY FOR THIS?

today we were told, dad has chronic kidney problems that are irreversible
due to the diabetes me I know looking shocked, and said to dad
in front of dr, your primary care dr has not mentioned this? DAD and MOM
both NO>..i do not like their primary care dr at all and even more now.
we were also told dad has cardiomyopathy on the lower left side of heart
in english...it means his heart is severely damaged due to a heart attack
last Sept or Oct.  again it is irreversible  the only thing they can do
is keep him on heart pills *that keep him from getting a deep breath
and causing heart to speed up* AKA beta blocker*  and 80 mg of lassix
a day.   limited to 2000 mg of salt per day, heck you can eat a single piece
of bread and get that!.
SO, now I know the reason surgery was post phoned so that I can
once again take care of my aging/ailing parents.
I think I am still in shock over this, and want to cry but know I have to
be strong for my parents,  I have always been the strong one in the family
keeping us held together,   please pray for him, and mom....they will
be celebrating their 60th anniversary this year at Christmas Time.

so this is why I haven't been blogging a lot lately, but I am going to
try to do my hops this week,

Happy 238 th Birthday America



Enjoy your Independence Day holiday everyone.
Two hundred and thirty eight years ago in New York City George Washington  was busy preparing for the coming Battle of Brooklyn, the disastrous  results of which very nearly snuffed out the dreams of American Independence before the war ever properly got rolling.
Meanwhile in Philadelphia the Second Continental Congress had just passed the momentous resolution that the thirteen former North American colonies of England were now free and independent states, part of the newly formed United States of America.  Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman and Robert Livingston had been selected by Congress to draft a document setting forth such resolution in writing.
Resolutions documenting votes of legislative bodies are drafted on a routine basis, and then as now the vote approving the resolution was seen as the momentous event, not the written document memorializing the vote.   Richard Henry Lee of Virginia introduced the Independence Resolution to Congress on June 7, 1776 that was eventually adopted on July 2, 1776.   The two most prominent members of the drafting committee, Adams and Franklin, persuaded Jefferson to be the primary author largely because he was the second youngest on the Committee, next to Livingston, and Livingston was not an eloquent writer. The Declaration was at heart a dreary list of grievances against King George, listing one after another mean things the King did to his colonies justifying the break.  Franklin and Adams, both older, far better known and more accomplished than Jefferson, did not relish the task of what was viewed as a bureaucratic, legalistic necessity, formally documenting the great event which had occurred by vote of Congress July 2.  Only Jefferson’s soaring prose of surpassing eloquence in the Preamble lifted the document out of the obscurity it was likely headed for and transformed it into one of the world’s most famous documents. Had Adams or Franklin recognized at the time how important and famous the document would eventually become, they would surely have insisted on their own authorship. As it was, they thought they had more important things to attend to and left the drudge work of drafting a turgid list of grievances to the younger Jefferson, essentially the young intern in the matter.
Jefferson took the assignment and produced one of the most famous passages in all of history:

IN CONGRESS, JULY 4th, 1776

The Unanimous Declaration
of the Thirteen United States of America

When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness....
While at the time these lofty ideals were only applicable in practice to a small minority of propertied white men, and the country still struggles to live up to them to this day, they nonetheless created an expectation and a standard, an image for this grand experiment in representative government  to try to live up to.  All these years later the words of the Declaration remain inspirational and aspirational not only to Americans but to countries around the world, many of which  modeled their own later experiments in representative democracy, in part, on the original fledgling efforts of the first such government since ancient Athens.
While enjoying your fireworks and your barbecues, perhaps take just a moment to remember what has become one of the most famous and inspirational documents in human history, the Declaration of Independence, and reflect on the enormity of the risks taken by those colonists so long ago, who indeed literally pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to wage a war for independence against the greatest military power on earth.  In so doing, they gave birth to a new nation, the likes of which the world had never seen before.
