thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday!  I hope you all have had a blessed week, and that you were safe over the weekend.   Saturday night, the town I do most of my shopping was torn up pretty bad by and Ef3/4 tornado.  This town is only 19 miles from where I live, all I knew todo was to pray God's angels of protection around me and my pets, we didn't even get a rain drop.  Thank you Lord for always being my shield in the storm.

This week I am thankful for no storms, my sister in VA she is such a blessing to me, and that my belt on my vehicle didn't break and leave me stranded on the road.  For my Salvation, and that Jesus no matter the situation He is always there for me,  believe me I keep my guardian angels busy.    I am thankful for food in the cabinets, a/c for the warmer temps, dependable transportation, my friends,  my sister in law who sends me daily devotionals now, for the longest time we didn't like each other.  God is working miracles in/around me.  I am thankful for the beautiful art work the Master gives me to photograph.

Please continue to pray for our country, the sick and afflicted, our little church 12 members, that we can grow, storms to stay away, my friend who has severe R/A in both arms is in so much pain, she has a complete knee surgery coming up also.

I hope and pray each of you have a blessed weekend and week ahead.

Sunday Blessings

Happy Sonday all! I hope each and every one of you are having a blessed day in the Lord.  I didn't make it to church this am, my alarm went off and I was so dizzy decided that it would not be safe for me to try to drive.

Here in the Midwest (OK) we are under severe thunderstorms after 10:30 I sure do not like those over night storms.  I have been praying for al that were in the path of that awful Derecho, we had one hit here last Father's Day, they are as bad or worse than tornadoes.

got the yard mostly mowed, just in time for the next rain right now it is growing on average of 8" a week.  Had a surprise helper show up to do the weed eating, that in itself is 1/2 days work.  Having to start early to finish by 1pm then it gets too hot and muggy to be outside.

This is from Our Daily Bread devotional today

Making God Known

Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.

Today's Scripture & Insight :

READ

A love for God and for people undergirds Kathryn’s Bible translating work. She rejoices when women in India come to a deeper understanding of Scripture, reading it in their mother tongue. She remarks that when they do, “They often start cheering or clapping. They read about Jesus, and they say, ‘Oh, wonderful!’ ”

Kathryn longs for more people to read the Scriptures in their own language. In this desire, she holds close to her heart the vision of the aging disciple John on the island of Patmos. Through the Spirit, God ushered him into the throne room of heaven, where he saw “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” (Revelation 7:9). All together they worshiped God, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God” (v. 10).

God continues to add to the great number of people praising Him. He uses not only the work of Bible translators and those praying for them, but also those who reach out to their neighbors in love with the good news of Jesus. We can rejoice in this joyful mission, marveling at how God will spark more people to join with the angels in saying, “Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever” (v. 12).

Reflect & Pray

How do you see God spurring on people to praise and honor Him? How might He invite you to join in His mission of spreading the good news of Jesus?

Saving God, thank You for the gift of Jesus. Please help me to share Your wonderful love with others.

INSIGHT
The book of Revelation (in Greek apokalypsis) is considered apocalyptic literature - a term which today is often used to describe literature that portrays the end of the world.  This is due to the graphic imagery of the prophecies contained in Revelation.  However, apokalypsis means to "reveal, to unveil something that has been hidden."  Primarily, the book of Revelation isn't about the end of the world; it's about Jesus, who's referred to as "the lamb" (See 5:6-13; 7: 9-17).  This description also appears in John's gospel:  "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (1:29); "Look, the Lamb of God!" (v. 36).
