The story of the candy cane

Candy Cane History and Legends

Legend has it that in 1670, the choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany handed out sugar sticks among his young singers to keep them quiet during the long Living Creche ceremony. In honor of the occasion, he had the candies bent into shepherds' crooks.

In 1847, a German-Swedish immigrant named August Imgard of Wooster, Ohio, decorated a small blue spruce with paper ornaments and candy canes. It wasn't until the turn of the century that the red and white stripes and peppermint flavors became the norm.

In Indiana, a candy maker wanted to make a candy that could be a reminder of Jesus Christ, so he made the Christmas candy cane. He started off with a stick of pure white hard candy. The white color symbolized the virgin birth and the sinless nature of Jesus, and the hard candy symbolized the solid rock which was the foundation of the church, and firmness of the promises of God.

The candy maker made the candy in the form of a J, which represented the name of Jesus and the staff of the Good Shepherds. He then stained it with three stripes which showed the scourging Jesus received, and symbolized the blood shed by Christ on the cross. When you break the cane, it reminds us that Jesus' body was broken for us.

Story of the poinsettia

This is one of my favorite Christmas stories

A charming story is told of Pepita, a poor Mexican girl who had no gift topresent the Christ Child at Christmas Eve Services. As Pepita walked slowly to the chapel with her cousin Pedro, her heart was filled with sadness rather than joy.







"I am sure, Pepita, that even the most humble gift, if given in love, will be
acceptable in His eyes," said Pedro consolingly.
Not knowing what else to do, Pepita knelt by the roadside and
gathered a handful of common weeds, fashioning them into a small bouquet.
Looking at the scraggly bunch of weeds, she felt more saddened and
 embarrassed than ever by the humbleness of her offering. She fought
 back a tear as she entered the small village chapel.
As she approached the altar, she remembered Pedro's kind words:
"Even the most humble gift, if given in love, will be acceptable in His eyes.
" She felt her spirit lift as she knelt to lay the bouquet at the foot of the nativity scene.
Suddenly, the bouquet of weeds burst into blooms of brilliant red, and all
who saw them were certain that they had witnessed a Christmas miracle right
before their eyes.
From that day on, the bright red flowers were known as the Flores de
 Noche Buena, or Flowers of the Holy Night, for they bloomed each year
 during the Christmas season.
Today, the common name for this plant is the poinsettia!

I am at home on my couch
just waiting for snuggle time
with Daddy

mommy is pretty awesome too

she took care of me when I was sick

and had to be gone another 2 weeks

I was thinking mom and dad forgot me

But I had really good dr's *vets*

that worked hard to save my life

and the student dr's were really great

too.  They spoiled me more than

mommy and daddy do

I do not know what happened though, I used to get sweet feed, and some other goodies

now all I can have is HAY  well it is better than nothing.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY and mommy says she really appreciated the

prayers for me.  I need to get off mommies computer as she has some work to do

I think that we all have that weakness, if we let go and truly let GOD

your inner weakness' become less weakness and stronger in the WORD

We have been dealing with weakness, worry, this whole month

our little WILLIE Goat goat a kidney stone took to local farm vet

was told to wait till Monday to see if it passed )this was Dec 2  

On Monday he still couldn't urinate drive to Siloam Springs AR as it is closer

they tried to CATHERIZE, didn't work, got a call Tuesday AM that we needed to 

take him to Stillwater, OK (200 miles from Siloam) go to get him in Siloam take

to Stillwater,   Monday night he started having very bad seizures, we prayed that 

he would be healed of seizures, we went and got him Thur he was doing great (YAY)

Friday morning he got up, lethargic once again,  get Willie prepared yet again for another

100 mile road trip.  Saturday morning  he had to have emergency surgery as his bladder

ruptured.  POOR LITTLE GUY  he is only 8 months old.   

Friday they clamped off the cath hoping he could urinate the normal way only got a
dribble release clamp and gonna try again Monday to clamp off the cath  come on little 

guy you can do this as soon as you urinate on your on you can come home

Willie is not just a goat, he is a therapy/companion for Gator 

please say a quick prayer that he will be healed.

Willie goat had to have bladder surgery and hates this cone!!! this is on
way home THUR

please say some extra prayers we had to rush him back to vet 100 miles away
his bladder ruptured and had to have emergency surgery!  he is not just a GOAT
he is a companion/therapy baby.

Our little Willie goat is very sick and is facing emergency surgery in
tomorrow if the kidney stone doesnt dissolve today

Matthew 10:30

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

As much as I love my wife and daughter, I have never bothered to count the number of hairs on their heads. I don’t have the time to do so and I doubt I will ever want to.

Every day, your hair drops. Yet, God knows how many hairs are left on your head. And He also knows how many are growing back! He knows because He bothers to count them again. When it comes to you, He always has time for every little thing about you.

So when Jesus said, “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered,” He was not exaggerating. He never exaggerates. He means what He says and He says what He means. So for the Lord to say that the very hairs of your head are all numbered means that He wants you to know that He is very interested in you and has intimate knowledge about you—your body, family, finances, relationships…everything in your life!

He knows the pain you have been having in your body. He is aware of the financial worry which you have been keeping from your family. He sees how your nasty boss is treating you. He understands the hurts you have been keeping in your heart. He hears your heart’s cry for a miracle baby.

Your heavenly Father wants you to know that as long as something concerns you, He does not overlook it, even if it is about your pet, as a church member found out. She panicked when she first discovered that her pet terrapin had gone blind. Then, remembering my messages on confessing healing for our bodies, she did the same for her pet! Three months later, the terrapin’s eyes were wide open and able to see!

God knows you intimately. He knows every small problem you are worried about and every single burden you have. And when you approach Him for help, He has all the time for you as if no one else exists. That is how valuable you are to Him and how absorbed He is in you!
